pour SOME of the grease in.. put the wick into the grease to hold it steady.. and THEN the rest of the grease! no drill needed :)

It is by definition a grease fire already.
Its a great candle. I tried it, it almost never runs out and has no smell whatsoever. That is really odd, but if you want some cool shaped candles, you can use this technique. It's awesome.
tallow is beef fat to be specific, pork fat is lard, and also, the comments mentioning a grease fire are correct, while this candle would smell fantastic, it would be beyond dangerous
One caveat ... please let the bacon grease cool a little before you pour it into a glass container. If it's too hot, the glass could break when you pour it in (never a good thing). Pour in a little, add a LEAD-FREE (please) wick, stabilizing it by tying it around a pencil or spoon which you then rest across the top of the jar. Then pour the rest of the grease. This is essentially what the earliest candles were. There is usually a bit more soot produced than with most 'conventional' candles, but it's a great way to recycle.
Wow, I thought making this candle would be a good die but then it caught fire and burned my grandma's house down. Thanks alot internet!

Completely safe, probably smells almost exactly like a regular candle, and it probably does go rancid, though the salt in the bacon will delay it.

If you think that this could possibly start a fire, you need to look up the term "smoke points."
Why waste perfectly good bacon grease on a candle. You can cook with that shit and make all your food taste like bacon.
Idiots who think this can cause a fire.... does a candle catch fire when you light the wick? No. Because the melted wax at the base of the wick soaks up the wick and burns there rather than in the container. Same applies to bacon grease, kerosene in a lamp, cooking oil candles. Why does such simple technology befuddle you?
I am curious if this has a strong odor. It is burning fat after all. One way to solve the world's cholesterol.
